Volunteers are a critical component of PASO.  We need volunteers here at our location to assist with the daily chores and to spend time with the birds.

 

Volunteers to help out with special events for those that can't commit to a regular schedule.

 

Even if you are too far there are still many ways of helping us. Please contact us and if you have any ideas on how you can help we would love to hear your ideas!

Our Volunteers are the most caring, sweet, gentle and committed individuals I have ever met!  They are the back bone of
 PASO.  It is our sincere thanks to each and every one of them.  Whether it's keeping the website running, helping out with special events, making toys, scrubbing floors and cages or what ever.  Our volunteers are the best! They help out in so many capacities making PASO the great place for your parrots care.

Here is a little bit about them.

Ryan Hedrick - Police Officer
I am an extra handyman for Brett, a computer expert for Nancy, and a chew toy for Simon. I am also buddies with Bogie the blue and gold, yes I said Bogie.
I volunteer at special events and help out when I can. I am also on the Board of Directors.

Adele Borer - Media Designer
I am a regular volunteer for Nancy and a member of the Board of Directors. I handle all media related activities such as this website, print material, and signage. I am also a board of director. I attend special events and create some of my own!

Bob Shaw - Internet Expert
I help out at special events and assist Adele with some aspects of maintaining the website.

Lori Waugh - Tech Support Agent
I come out regularly and assist Nancy with the birds and help in cleaning.
I contacted Nancy through the paso website,and was promptly invited to come visit the rescue. I decided I would like to devote some time volunteering and learning about the parrots. A year later I can say it has been an amazing experience. I also help
foster some at times and also handle quarentine issues for PASO.

Dan Pazder - Student (Vet tech) and Pet store clerk
I spent a semester of school as a coop student for PASO.  I have continued to help out in my spare time.  I help clean birds cages and play areas and have gone on a number of rescues. I also help out at special events.  I plan on becoming a vet tech.

Lorraine Anderson - Supervisor Manufacturing
I am a board of director for PASO and arrange and coordinate some of the special education events.  I also foster some of the PASO birds when needed.

Bonnie Stratford - Pet store clerk
I am a board of director for PASO.  I help Nancy by offering dietary knowledge and I build some toys for the birds.  I have extensive knowledge in the care and keeping of parrots and an expert on dietary requirements.

Tanya - Emergency Room Nurse

A wonderful family of volunteers that come out every week scrubbing cages and floors and bringing birdie treats and lovin them up! 

Ian, Janet and Hayley Shaw
This family helped out immensley in Oshawa when we were there and still come up and visit the birds.  They assisted with cleaning cages, donations, and attend some events.   Hayley is only 12 years old and fosters some of our smaller PASO birds to help them become tame to make them ready for adoption. Although we see them a little less now they still help out when ever they can. Hayley is also the moderator for the kids forum on the PASO site.

Christine and Jenn
We have supported many parrot rescues in Ontario in the past and after our experiences with most of them we have decided that we will only support PASO in the future.  We also are available for foster care for birds in the Sault St Marie area until the birds can reach PASO. Although we live on the other side of Ontario we try to help PASO anyway we can by getting local business to donate to the rescue.
